Washington, DC -Today, Congressman Van Drew announced that he will be meeting with leaders from Atlantic City Electric (ACE) and Exelon next week in Washington, D.C. to address the high utility costs affecting families and businesses in South Jersey.

"After months of delay, ACE and Exelon have finally agreed to meet with us next week to discuss the unreasonable utility charges that South Jersey residents are currently facing," said Congressman Van Drew. "We have made it clear that we are not interested in empty promises—we expect them to bring real, concrete actions to the table such as issuing rebates for those affected and ensuring future rate hikes are kept in check. Meanwhile, we continue to work closely with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), which is actively reviewing all the materials we have provided on this issue.

"My office will continue to help people with their individual issues, and I also urge anyone experiencing these issues to additionally contact the Governor's Office and the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) who oversee these matters. They have the power to act now to protect residents from what is clearly a failing system. On the federal level, we will keep pushing for consumer protection and compensation. These costs are putting unnecessary strain on hardworking South Jersey families, and I am determined to ensure that ACE and Exelon answer to our community."
