Today, Congressman Van Drew voted NO on Democrats' Inflation 'Reduction' Act that will actually increase inflation and raise taxes.

"It is no surprise that Democrats are now pulling out all the stops to deceive the American people into thinking they are actually committed to easing the burdens of Democrat-caused inflation," said Congressman Van Drew. "This bill is just a modified version of 'Build Back Better' that will cost American taxpayers more than $700 billion. Experts have already indicated that this bill will have little to no effect on the rate of inflation, and almost every tax bracket will see some level of a tax increase. Not only will this bill increase your taxes, but Democrats also want to spend $80 billion to hire 87,000 Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agents to spy on your bank accounts. The IRS is unable to currently fulfill their duties despite Congress allocating a billion dollars to help with backlogs, making the Democrat's solution of throwing more taxpayer dollars at the agency even more egregious."

"This is yet another attempt to pass socialist wish-list items, including Green New Deal provisions," added Congressman Van Drew. "Democrats are grasping at straws in an attempt to make it seem like they are wanting to better the lives of Americans. In reality, this is just another bill with a cushy, deceiving title. The American people know better than to fall for this sham of a bill and I could never support legislation that increases taxes in the middle of a recession."
