VINELAND, NJ- Today, Congressman Jeff Van Drew and United States Department of Agriculture(USDA) Under Secretary Greg Ibach toured Seashore Fruit and Produce in Vineland, NJ to see the Farmers to Families Food Box Program in action. The Farmers to Families Food Box Program provides a partnership between the USDA and local farmers to provide nutritional assistance to food banks, community and faith-based organizations, and other non-profits serving Americans in need. This program is funded by Coronavirus relief funds passed earlier this year. Several local farmers also attended the event. As a result of this visit, Congressman Van Drew plans to introduce legislation to encourage a “Made in America” section for grocery stores to support our American farmers. “This program is a vital one for our community and our farmers,” said Congressman Van Drew. “Not only am I proud to support this program and the needs of our farmers, I also believe we can take pride in our production at home and will introduce legislation to focus on the great work of our American farmers. I believe if given the choice, Americans will choose to support American farmers when they head to the store to shop.” |
