Washington, DC -Today, Congressman Van Drew questioned Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Deanne Criswell in a House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee hearing about reports that FEMA workers were instructed to "avoid homes advertising Trump" while assisting hurricane victims. The directive led workers to skip over at least 20 homes displaying Trump campaign signs or flags.

"In the most vulnerable moments of their lives, when these people are terrified and desperate for aid, the federal government turned its back on them because of their political beliefs," said Congressman Van Drew. "There is no place for bias in disaster relief—ever. FEMA has neglected its core mission of providing emergency support to all Americans and that is why I have sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security Inspector General Joseph Cuffari calling for an immediate investigation. We need to uncover the full extent of this abuse and hold those who put politics ahead of safety accountable."
