Contact: Scott Weldon (202)225-6572

Today, Congressman Jeff Van Drew offered his support of, and ideas for the next round of stimulus funding being discussed. The enactment of the third round of stimulus is up and running, however we are still waiting on the total rollout to be fully enacted. We still need to receive on guidance from certain agencies regarding process and application (e.g.-SSI recipients process for the IRS for stimulus checks).

The fourth-planned package will be worked on and voted on in the coming weeks. Congressman Van Drew would like to see included in the next phase:

  • Continued funding for the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) the Trump Administration has suggested an additional $251B to the program.

  • Expanded and enhanced protection of seasonal employers and employees in the PPP.

    • Seasonal employers’ average monthly payroll can be calculated from data from any 12-week period from 2/15/19 - 9/15/19.

    • Seasonal employers covered period should be based on any continuous 8-week period beginning at loan origination and ending at 9/15/20.

  • Allowing 501c(6) organizations to participate in the PPP

  • Enhanced protections and funding for first responders and healthcare workers.

  • Opening the stimulus check availability to college-age dependents.

  • Removal of prepayment penalties on existing loans.

“While we have passed historic legislation to save our nation, we must continue to refine what we have done, so that every person impacted by this pandemic can see benefit,” said Congressman Van Drew. “Our community and our nation must do better at protecting our first responders, healthcare workers, and our seasonal employees and employers; I will continue to push for attention to those details so that we do just that.”
