"The Infant Formula Supplemental Apprpriations Act was intentionally named to mislead the American people in order to score cheap political points and does nothing to actually solve the current baby formula crisis, which is a result of this administration's failed policies" said Congressman Van Drew. "After shutting down one of our nation's largest baby formula manufacturing plants, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) failed to have a plan in place to respond to this foreseeable crisis. Now, House Democrats only response is to throw $28 million for the FDA to hire more staff and make administrative changes. "This bill does not put formula back on the shelves, it does not require the FDA to come up with a plan to get formula back on the shelves, and it does not increase the importation of baby formula. Instead, this bill expands our bureaucracy and wastes your hard-earned money by failing to re-allocate millions of unused taxpayer dollars that Congress has already authorized to alleviate supply chain crises. "Our country is faced with multiple crises and all House Democrats seem to care about is putting forth messaging bills rather than effective policy that will actually help the American people." |
