Congressman Van Drew Meets with FAA Administrator and Union Representatives to Discuss the FAA Technical CenterContact: Ashley Brown (202) 225-6572
Washington, DC,
December 8, 2021
Today, Congressman Van Drew met with the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Administrator, Steve Dickson, and members of the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE), and the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE). These union members represent over 500 employees at the FAA Technical Center. Last month, Congressman Van Drew sent a letter to Administrator Dickson requesting that the FAA withdraw their reorganization request. The FAA had the intention to privatize portions of the FAA. This privatization strategy threatens the FAA's independent oversight of the Aviation industry. This policy will affect almost 1,000 FAA workers and $1 billion of taxpayer money. View my full statement here. "I had a very productive and positive meeting with Administrator Dickson and the union representatives," said Congressman Van Drew. "My main objective is to work relentlessly to ensure that we save South Jersey jobs and do not diminish the facility in the process. We must continue to be vigilant with this issue and continue to move forward with advancing the technical center while keeping jobs intact. Administrator Dickson was attentive and receptive, and I look forward to working closely with him in the future. At the end of the day, we must do what is best for the technical center, the region, and this nation." |
