Today, Congressman Jeff Van Drew announced the winner of the Congressional App Challenge for the 2nd District of New Jersey. The App Challenge asks local middle and high school students to submit a developed application (app). The apps are judged based on creativity, usefulness, and technical capability of the coding. This year’s winner is COVID Compass, developed by Justin Tresvalles and Raphaelle Hoang, which helps people find the safest way to limit COVID-19 exposure when seeking healthcare. The app allows users to look up their local hospitals and receive a brief overview on how many COVID-19 cases a specific hospital has treated within the past month. Additionally, the app provides information on bed availability and allows users to report COVID-19 cases. “I am proud of the work that went into the development of this application,” said Rep. Van Drew. “This is a great tool that can help connect people to healthcare and keep our community safer. Congratulations Justin and Raphaelle on receiving this prestigious award; we look forward to big things from you in the future.” ### |
