September 11, 2020 Peter T. Gaynor Administrator Federal Emergency Management Agency 500 C St. SW Washington, DC 20024 Dear Administrator Gaynor, I write to you to oppose the COVID-19 Pandemic: Work Eligible for Public Assistance policy that puts restrictions on reimbursement for personal protective equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 pandemic starting 9/15/2020. There are numerous employees in public facilities and schools who will no longer be able to utilize FEMA’s Category B designation. The PPE and disinfectants which were previously reimbursable no longer qualify. We must rectify this as we head back to school and as colder weather forces more students, teachers, medical professionals (and many more) indoors. This will have a cascading negative impact as we continue to fight COVID-19 with all the tools available to us. We respectfully request you change this policy. Sincerely, Congressman Jeff Van Drew |
