Congressman Van Drew Letter to Governor Regarding MVC LocationsContact: Scott Weldon (202)225-6572

Dear Governor Murphy, A serious oversight regarding Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) locations in South Jersey has been brought to our attention. While we are thankful these facilities have begun a slow reopening, the lack of geographic focus is putting an extreme burden on large portions of our community. The open MVC locations offering the road test portion for licensing, and separate registration locations are a significant distance away from most South Jersey residents. The closest licensing facility at which you can take a road test in the region is located in western Salem County. This is a significant trek for residents of Ocean, Cape May, and Atlantic Counties. We respectfully ask that you open additional licensing facilities in South Jersey to allow for road testing. Also, my district represents 40 percent of New Jersey geographically, but does not contain one MVC registration facility. Please consider opening registration facilities that all South Jersey residents can access in a timely fashion. This is something that needs to be rectified immediately. People who are already struggling with a pandemic now have an additional burden of time to drive hours out of their way to accomplish a task which should be performed locally. As always, if our office can be of assistance, do not hesitate to reach out. Sincerely, Congressman Jeff Van Drew |
