Contact: Scott Weldon (202)225-6572

Congressman Jeff Van Drew has announced his support for an additional wave of funding to galvanize the existing programs passed last month in the CARES Act and prior. Congressman Van Drew will oppose any additions not pertaining to the public health crisis at hand. Negotiations are currently pending regarding the dollar amounts and allocation of resources, but included in the talks, and what Congressman Van Drew would like to see are:

  • $300 billion addition to the Paycheck Protection Program directed towards small businesses
  • $50 billion additional for Disaster loans to small businesses
  • $75 billion for hospitals and equipment such as Personal Protective Equipment for staff.
  • $25 billion to support testing of COVID-19

“Our small businesses, those in healthcare and the sick should be the only priority of legislation regarding Coronavirus,” said Congressman Van Drew. “I want to make sure our small businesses are taken care of, and they remain the focus of our legislation to keep them afloat. We must also provide our tireless healthcare worker and facilities the tools they need to fight this battle; I look forward to supporting this legislation.”
