Congressman Van Drew Tours Finn’s Point National Cemetery in Pennsville, NJ

(Mays Landing, NJ) – Congressman Jeff Van Drew continued his tour of South Jersey with a visit to Finn’s Point National Cemetery in Pennsville, NJ. Finn’s Point is a historic place and is the only national cemetery in New Jersey still performing burials. It has over 2,400 soldiers and German P.O.W.’s buried there.

Congressman Van Drew’s visit was to advocate for funding for upgrades and to preserve the dignity of our Veterans final resting place. He met with National Cemetery Administration Director George Whitney to discuss what needs to be done including the stone retaining wall, caretaker’s cottage, and access road, among other things. State representatives from the VFW, American Legion, and AMVETs attended the tour with the Congressman.

“This beautiful Salem County Cemetery is an important part of our history, but no one knows about it. It is important that all cemeteries are maintained, but especially National Cemeteries that honor those in the military that gave their lives for our country. I would like to see the necessary funding for maintenance, and I would also like more people to know about this beautiful landmark of South Jersey, said Congressman Van Drew.
