Congressman Jeff Van Drew gave the most speeches on the house floor in the first quarter among his colleagues. These speeches are designed to bring attention to certain topics or people, and Congressman Van Drew brought the attention to South Jersey. He highlighted several issues that concern New Jersey’s Second Congressional District, as well as honored outstanding members of South Jersey.

“The thing that concerns me the most is what concerns the people of South Jersey. I am here to represent them and their issues. As I have said before, one of my goals is to make sure the House and the country knows where South Jersey is and what we are about. It is about time that our issues, our concerns, our community is recognized and heard” said Rep. Van Drew.

Rep. Van Drew did many speeches on the issues that affect South Jersey including offshore drilling, Medicare and social security, and bipartisanship. He also did a series of speeches honoring “Outstanding Members of South Jersey”. This series of speeches honored people like John Lynch of Wildwood, NJ who, among many other things, ranked up over 4,000 hours serving his community.

“This series of speeches will continue during my time in Congress. It is important for people who make our community a better place to be recognized” said Rep. Van Drew.
