Congressman Jeff Van Drew Tours South Jersey’s Military and Technical Hub

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Egg Harbor Township, NJ) - Congressman Jeff Van Drew toured the William J. Hughes Federal Aviation Administration Technical Center, Coast Guard Air Station, National Aviation Research and Technology Park, and the Dept. of U.S. Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration’s Federal Air Marshal Training Center as part of a tour of South Jersey’s military and technical hub. The tour comes after the 35-day government shutdown, the longest in our nation’s history. The shutdown greatly affected federal workers, including the Coast Guard, and local businesses throughout South Jersey that depend on them for business. Federal employees were furloughed or required to work without pay and it will take a long time for these families to recover. Congressman Van Drew invited one such worker, Marion Kennedy from the William J. Hughes Federal Aviation Administration Technical Center to be his guest at the State of the Union earlier this month to honor federal workers. “This tour gave me a deeper understanding of how essential this hub is to our national security, and how imperative it is to ensure that these critical operations never get interrupted again. The technologies that are being developed here in our backyard are important for the security and safety of our nation and to our local economy,” said Congressman Van Drew. Congressman Jeff Van Drew is the Representative for New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District. His office in Washington, D.C. is in Cannon House Office Building Room 331 and his District office is in Mays Landing. Van Drew was a practicing dentist in South Jersey for more than 30 years and was previously Senator for New Jersey’s 1st Legislative District. He took office on January 3, 2019. ### |
