Congressman Van Drew Condemns NJBPU's Decision to Delay Offshore Wind Developer's $37 Million Payment

Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Van Drew slammed the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) for granting offshore wind developer Attentive Energy a one-year extension on $37.3 million in payments that were originally due in January.

"Once again, the NJBPU is choosing to protect big corporations instead of standing up for New Jersey families," said Congressman Van Drew. "Meanwhile hardworking families and small businesses are doing everything they can to keep up with rising utility costs, but they are not given any special treatment. Yet these massive companies, who made empty promises and took advantage of taxpayer-funded incentives, are being rewarded with extensions. While the state has already wasted billions on these failed projects, it is time to move on. That starts by collecting every last penny these companies owe the people of this state."
