Congressman Jeff Van Drew Continues to Pressure NJ Transit to Provide Answers for South Jersey on AC Rail Line
Washington, DC,
February 8, 2019
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Congressman Jeff Van Drew continued to put pressure on New Jersey Transit after delays on the Atlantic City Rail Line continue to hinder thousands of South Jersey residents’ commute to work. NJ Transit promised the public that the project would be finished by early 2019, but recently, it announced that the A.C. Rail Line would be closed for up to 5 more months. NJ Transit’s lack of transparency and communication about the closure of the Atlantic City Rail Line has left many commuters frustrated and disappointed. “I have tried repeatedly to get answers from the Executive Director of NJ Transit but have been stonewalled repeatedly,” said Van Drew, “My constituents want service to be restored immediately, but just as importantly, they want the truth.” Commuters, workers, businesses and local economies all suffer because New Jersey Transit lied about the project and the re-opening timeline. This blatant disrespect for the people of South Jersey is unacceptable. That is why Van Drew and many of the New Jersey Representatives are sending a letter of admonishment to NJ Transit. “This is the time for NJ Transit to do the right thing for the sake of our commuters, workers and the State of New Jersey,” Van Drew concluded. Jeff Van Drew is the Representative for New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District. His office in Washington, D.C. is in Cannon House Office Building Room 331 and his District office is in Mays Landing. Van Drew was a practicing dentist in South Jersey for more than 30 years and was previously Senator for New Jersey’s 1st Legislative District. He took office on January 3, 2019. ### VIDEO: https://youtu.be/rnzNJlLHT7k |
