Van Drew Invited FAA Worker Marion Kennedy Jr. to the 2019 State of the Union Address

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Congressman Jeff Van Drew invites Marion Kennedy Jr. of Fairfield Township, NJ to be his guest at the 2019 State of the Union Address. Mr. Kennedy is a former Mayor of Fairfield Township and a federal employee at South Jersey’s William J. Hughes FAA Technical Center. He was furloughed during the government shutdown. Marion Kennedy Jr. is an IT Specialist/ Systems Engineer on essential integration software for general aviation in the state of Alaska. He has continued to be active in his community and is the Chairman of the Fairfield Township Environmental Commission and a member of the Fairfield Township Planning & Zoning Board. Additionally, Marion Kennedy Jr. is a Navy Veteran and was the first FAA employee keynote speaker for Veterans Day. “It is a great honor to have been asked to attend the State of the Union with my long-time friend Mr. Van Drew,” said Kennedy, continuing, “When he asked me to come I knew that it was an amazing opportunity and I look forward to witnessing this historical event.” “Marion is a great man and serves his community well. It is a shame what happened to so many Americans that were furloughed or working without pay during the shutdown. I knew I wanted to extend this invitation to one of the many who suffered through this and Mr. Kennedy was the obvious choice. It is the least I can do to recognize and honor what these people have gone through,” said Congressman Jeff Van Drew. Congressman Van Drew is a co-sponsor of H.R. 622 the “End Government Shutdowns Act”. He plans to do all he can while in office to fight against hard-working men and women becoming causalities of politics. Jeff Van Drew is the Representative for New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District. His office in Washington, D.C. is in Cannon House Office Building Room 331 and his District office is in Mays Landing. Van Drew was a practicing dentist in South Jersey for more than 30 years and was previously Senator for New Jersey’s 1st Legislative District. He took office on January 3, 2019. ###
