This is Congressman Jeff Van Drew with a brief update for you on the impending inclement weather that may impact South Jersey over the coming days.
As it stands now, Tropical Storm Isaias is tracking up the Atlantic coastline with potential landfall in South Jersey on Tuesday, 8/4/2020, with the most severe portions impacting the area in the afternoon.
MAYS LANDING- Today, Congressman Jeff Van Drew announced two more additional Air Improvement Program Grants (AIP) in South Jersey. Included in the grants were $11.2 million for runway improvements at Atlantic City International Airport, and $1.4 million for Millville Municipal Airport in Millville for improvements to the Apron portion of the airport.
CAPE MAY- Today, Congressman Jeff Van Drew announced that Cape May County Airport will be receiving an Air Improvement Program grant (AIP) totaling more than 2.7 million dollars (more than $2.3 million previously unannounced). The AIP will be used for improvements to the runway and runway lighting at the airport.
WASHINGTON-Today, Congressman Jeff Van Drew introduced the Workforce Recovery and Training Services Act. The legislation is designed to address the needs of workers in a post-COVID 19 job market. It authorizes the Department of Labor to disburse $3.5 billion dollars to states, with priority given to higher impacted areas.
